Hi Asmaaa,

Neat post. I think a good test when working on a mobile site is to ask the developer to navigate the website using just one thumb (many people hold the phone and tap the button using one hand), then ask them to do the same in a dim light (many users dim the screen to save battery life). Finally ask them to do both of these whilst walking around (many users are on the go when using their phones to browse). I’m exaggerating, of course, to make the point but I think it's a good reminder to all of us sitting in our well lit studios constructing our works of art.

We built a small tool to show website owners how their website is currently seen on a mobile phone. It’s free for anyone to use I hope it might be of use to you or your readers – http://www.sayuconnect.com/mobile_check.php

Thanks Deven!

I'm assuming you mean a mobile friendly landing page? Because if not, it doesn't really make sense, mobile users can just go straight to your site.

So assuming your landing page is mobile friendly, what's the purpose of the landing page? Is it going to have all the services you offer? If so, when someone clicks, where is that page going to go? Back to your site? It's probably not worth it to have a mobile friendly landing page since whenever someone clicks it will redirect to your site anyways. Typically a landing page is for a specific purpose, I guess what you have to figure out is if all the content on the landing page going to be enough for your mobile customers.

Asmaa :

This is very informative. Quite a few pointers to good resources as well.

One Q - for companies that are not ready yet to design a "mobile" web-site do you think landing pages or specific applications that would drive a very specific objective would help?

Thanks,

Excellent post Asmaa! Can't wait to see the e-nor mobile site live.

On a side note, why isn't "iPhone" or "Android" mentioned anywhere in the post?? :) You must really really like your blackberry (and dislike the rest) :)
