Analytics for Social Networking

I am looking for input from the Internet Marketing consultants attending the WSI Global conference in Las Vegas on September 16.  Social networking is the theme of the conference and I’ll be presenting on “web analytics and social networking”. The title of my session is “Analyze as you Socialize” (Arti and team get all the credit for this cool title! :) ).

I am known to be a last minute guy, but believe it or not, I am well ahead on this presentation and might have it all ready in the next couple of days!

I’ll be covering a number of topics, one  I know people want to hear about is “event tracking” in Google Analytics. I plan to show some reports and analysis of video tracking.  But my challenge is to meet the needs of the audience since we will have beginners, intermediate and advanced level consultants.

I would really appreciate it if you can post a comment or email me directly (feras at e-nor . com) with what you like to see in the presentation. I’ll attempt to refine the presentation to address the needs of the audience and also include references & materials that consultants can use right away.

Thank you in advance and hope to see you there!

  1. Feras – I’m looking forward to your presentation. I have a couple of Google Adwords & Analytics on a few sites at the moment; I don’t profess to know too much about the subject and am very much looking forward to learning more at E&I.

    See you next week.

    Thank you

  2. Feras,
I would like to see some comparisons of social networking traffic driven to a site vs SEO driven traffic. How cost effective is one method vs. the other. Conversion statistics would be even more interesting between the two although I feel the SEO traffic would win in that case. I’m sure I will benefit from whatever you show us. Looking forward to your presentation.

  3. Feras,

I’m also looking forward to your presentation and learning more about how this social networking phenom and analytics can be applied to the business sector. There seems to be a lot of “buzz” lately on this topic, but I suspect that many out there are doing just that… only buzzing. What I’m excited about is uncovering a way to tie some sort of an ROI to this effort and have it make sound “business sense” for those that decide to start doing this in their organization. Since my niche is the banking and financial services sector, any information along those lines would be appreciated, but I have a feeling this sector may be a bit on the slow side to adopt some of what we will learn as quickly as other industries.

    Looking forward to your presentation…

  4. Hi Feras, I also look forward to your presentation. I have not implemented any social media strategies (and would be interested in seeing real examples), but I am curious how one would track user activity that happens outside of the client’s own site, on the social media sites, say on facebook, youtube, digg, stumbleupon, etc.
Thanks, see you at the conference.
